itDNA Overview
itDNA is based on the Service Management portion of ITIL®, the international standard for IT Service Support and Delivery. itDNA is a model, which defines, organizes, and categorizes the multitude of business and technical processes, characteristics, metrics, objectives, resources, and best practices involved in managing a complex distributed computing environment. It allows you to define the "what, why, and how," of your processes and take control of your environment.
itDNA consists of two IT Business Functions (Support and Delivery) and twelve disciplines that are responsible for the provisioning and management of IT services. The twelve disciplines form the top level of taxonomy of issues and industry best practices; a way of classifying, collecting, viewing and presenting what an IT organization does. Below the discipline level are the itDNA elements. Each discipline contains a varying number of elements which are the basic or fundamental services that needs to be provided to operate a distributed computing environment.
